Taiwan: A Model for Mainland China Democratic and Legal Development

In its economic development, China benefitted greatly from Taiwan.  For example, the Kaohsiung import/export processing zone was the model for Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and several other import/export processing zones along China's Eastern seaboard.  Now that there is a growing recognition that China needs democratization, it could benefit by borrowing from Taiwan's successful democratic development.  Similarly, if China is to be ruled by law it could borrow from Taiwan's legal development.

Taiwan and Japan Conclude Fisheries Agreement

Congratulations to the governments of Taiwan and Japan in concluding a fisheries agreement which will let Taiwan fishermen fish in Japanese controlled waters.  The agreement will only enhance the traditionally strong relations between both island nations.
